Nearly 40 cars broken into at Murfreesboro hotels, apartment
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – More than 30 cars were broken into at several Murfreesboro hotels and an apartment complex.
The Murfreesboro Police Department said 39 cars were broken into Monday between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.
Officers said a group of three men were caught on two hotel surveillance cameras going around and shattering car windows.
Victims told WSMV that they have no idea how to protect their car from break-ins happening again.
One man, who didnβt want to share his name, said he spent Monday morning taping up his broken window after spending the night at the Courtyard Marriott on Conference Center Boulevard.
βWhere I come from that doesnβt happen much,β the man said.
The man said he was visiting from East Tennessee when he woke up to find dozens of broken windows.
βI just walked out, was getting ready for school and noticed glass everywhere,β the man said. β(I) walked over and my window was broken.β
When the man looked inside, he immediately knew what was missing.
βA pair of boots and a firearm were stolen,β the man said.
In addition to the Marriott, police said the group hit up 16 cars at Embassy Suites, nine at Courtyard by Marriott, seven at the Hilton Garden Inn and seven more at Vintage at the Avenue Apartments.
Murfreesboro police said the group stole five guns, random belongings and two cars. Officers later found those two cars wrecked and left running near the hotels.
Some people said theyβd rather leave their car doors open with nothing valuable inside and invest in a steering wheel lock. Others made plans to be more protected.
Break-in victims said they just hope police find the group before they hit any more cars.
