Dozens evacuated as fire breaks out at hotel

A hundred people were evacuated from a five -star hotel in the center of London while a fire continues to burn in the building.

Twenty firefighters’ trucks and approximately 125 firefighters were called to tackle the fire of the Chiltern fire station in Marylebone, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

The fire started around 2:50 p.m. GMT and was located in conduits leading from the ground floor to the roof of the four-story luxury hotel, which has a restaurant on the ground floor. A plant room at the roof is also on, said LFB.

Chiltern Firehouse is known to be frequented by celebrities and was the location of the 50th anniversary party of Kylie Minogue in 2018.

Crews of Euston, Soho, Paddington, West Hampstead, Kensington and Chelsea fire barracks have been deployed and stay on the scene, added LFB. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
